Frequently Asked Questions

Are you available for emergency sessions?

Yes, I offer emergency celebration-of-life pet portrait sessions and will do my best to accommodate urgent requests. While availability depends on my existing schedule, I will make every effort to arrange a session as quickly as possible to ensure we capture these precious moments with care and respect.

WHICH SESSION IS RIGHT FOR MY AGING PET

This is such an important question.

First and foremost, aging is not an illness. A grey muzzle or slowing down doesn’t automatically mean your pet is at the end of their journey. In fact, the vast majority of aging pets are perfect candidates for a Lifestyle Session. These sessions are designed to celebrate your bond and your pet’s unique personality—whether that means a quiet moment in the park, a cozy session at home, or a short walk followed by lots of cuddles. Lifestyle sessions are not just for high-energy pets; they’re for every age and ability.

Celebration-of-Life Sessions are more specifically intended for pets who are facing a terminal diagnosis or are experiencing significant quality of life challenges due to progressive or chronic illness. If your pet is in visible decline, struggling with mobility, pain, or other end-stage symptoms, this may be the more appropriate option. These sessions are slower-paced, deeply intentional, and focused on creating space for love, presence, and goodbyes.

A good rule of thumb:

If you're thinking, “They’re just getting old,” that alone doesn’t mean it’s time for an Celebration-of-Life session. Aging is a natural process, and many older pets have lots of love, comfort, and joy to share.

If you're thinking, “They’re struggling,” or you’ve had serious quality-of-life conversations with your vet, then a Celebration of Life session may be the more meaningful path.

If you’re still unsure, I’m always happy to talk through what would feel best for you and your pet. Every session is customized with your pet’s comfort and story at the center.

My pet is scared and nervous around new people. Can I still get photos done?

Absolutely! As a Fear Free Certified veterinary technician, I have extensive experience working with anxious and shy pets. I use gentle, low-stress handling techniques and allow your pet time to acclimate. I also use a longer lens when needed, so I can capture beautiful images from a comfortable distance, ensuring your pet feels safe and at ease.

How many people and pets can be included in a session?

Lifestyle sessions include up to 4 living beings—people and pets in any combination. If you’d like to include more, we can absolutely make that happen; additional fees may apply. For larger or more complex groups, I may recommend a custom session to ensure we have the time and space to create something meaningful.

For Celebration of Life sessions, the focus is entirely on your pet and the people who matter most to them. There isn’t a set limit or additional fee for including loved ones—these sessions are guided with care and flexibility to honor your pet’s story.

Do you work with all types of pets?

Yes! I work with a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, and small animals/exotics. If you have a pet with special handling needs, I’m happy to discuss the best way to ensure a stress-free session.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

Yes—I travel throughout Indiana, PA and surrounding areas, including Pittsburgh. Travel within 60 miles roundtrip is included. Sessions beyond that may have a travel fee based on distance.

For locations farther out, I’ll go over options with you ahead of booking so everything is clear and tailored to your session.

How long does a session typically last?

  • Lifestyle Sessions: Around 60 minutes, allowing plenty of time to capture a mix of candid and posed images.
  • Celebration-of-Life Sessions: These vary depending on your pet’s needs and comfort level. I allow as much time as needed to ensure a peaceful experience.

What should I bring to my session?

For the best experience, I recommend bringing:

✔️ Favorite Treats – Great for motivation and rewards.

✔️ Favorite Toy – Helps keep your pet engaged and happy.

✔️ Leash & Collar/Harness – Even in safe outdoor locations, these may be needed.

✔️ Water & Bowl – Especially for outdoor sessions.

✔️ Comfort Item – A favorite blanket or bed can help pets feel at ease.

What if my pet won’t sit still for photos?

That’s completely okay! Many of the best photos come from natural, unposed moments. Whether your pet is running, playing, or interacting with you, I use a combination of patience, professional techniques, and a fast shutter speed to capture beautiful, spontaneous shots.

When will I receive my photos?

Your images will be delivered via an online gallery within 2-3 weeks after your session. If you need expedited processing, please let me know.

Do you offer prints and albums?

Yes! In addition to digital images, I offer high-quality prints, framed artwork, and custom albums to help you preserve these memories in a tangible way.
